2012 NSDI CAP Grant Awarded to the Appalachian Ohio Geospatial Data Partnership
Charley Hickman, Geographer and National Map Liaison to Ohio with the U.S. Geological Survey, notified members of the the Appalachian Ohio Geospatial Data Partnership (AOGDP) on Monday that they were awarded a 2012 National Spatial Data Infrastructure Cooperative Agreement Program (NSDI CAP) Grant from the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) for $15,000.
The Appalachian Ohio Geospatial Data Partnership - Collection and Update of Ohio GIS Metadata in Ramona Project will involve the review and update of existing entries in the Ohio GIS Inventory to ensure their transformability though the GIS Inventory to FGDC or ISO metadata. Cadastral contacts and parcel data status will be added for all counties in Ohio to support emergency responders, oil and gas industry and other end users of this data. Finally, the group will identify sustainability plan for keeping Ohio’s GIS inventory data current.
The AOGDP is excited to continue their work with the Federal Geographic Data Committee in furthering the goals of the NSDI. This work will require the cooperation of many individuals and organizations. The partners include but are not limited to: Buckeye Hills - Hocking Valley RDD, Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, the Voinovich School School of Leadership and Public Affairs, Counties of the AOGDP and State of Ohio, Nancy von Meyer - Fairview Industries, Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
